What is a hostel?

A Hostel provides short term accommodation to travelers. In a hostel the guest usually rents a bed in a dormitory and shared bathroom, kitchen and lounge. Private rooms are available. The main benefits is that one gets to meet other travelers from around the world and it is a lot cheaper than staying at a hotel. There is more interaction between the guests than in hotels.

Are there check in requirements?

Yes, we require to see a passport no other forms of identification are accepted.

Can I check in early?

Our check in time is at 1pm and checkout time is 11am. If we have your bed ready then we will let you check in earlier. We have a free luggage storage facility to keep your luggage safe if needed.

Can I travel around the DR if I don't speak Spanish?

Of course! A lot of people in the touristy areas speak some English and other languages such as French and Italian. If you go outside of these areas some simple Spanish is recommended. The hostel is British/Dominican owned and managed so we can help you with what ever you need.

Is the hostel safe?

Yes, we have a night security guard and safes in our private rooms. Our Dorm rooms have security lockers just remember to bring a padlock or purchase one from us for a small fee. The Colonial Zone has 24hr police presence and our hostel is half a block away from a police station.

Is there parking?

There is free on street parking or there is a secure parking lot just a block away for just 3usd a night.

Do you have air conditioning?

Yes we do! We like to give our guests the option! We have both private and dormitory rooms with AC. We also offer more economical rooms each with their personal fan. The choice is yours!

Is the water safe to drink?

No we recommend that you buy bottled water. We sell bottles in our bar or cheap refills if you have your own bottle.

What is the food like?

Dominican food is similar to other Latin American countries. Their main food staple is Plantains, rice, beans, meat and salad. However you can pretty much get any type of cuisine that you require in Santo Domingo and we can recommend some great restaurants. Obviously being in the Caribbean the sea food is amazing!

Is your reception open 24hrs?

Yes, we have 24 hour reception service – the front desk is open from 6:30am until midnight then we have our night security that can help you with anything needed. If you are arriving to check in after midnight you have to get in touch to inform us first.

Do you offer a laundry service?

Yes we do laundry, cost 250dop per load (around 5usd) – washed, dried and folded.

Do you accept credit cards?

Yes we do, however there is a 4% surcharge. Otherwise we are just a 2 minute walk from the ATM’s. We accept Dominican pesos or USD.

Do you serve breakfast?

Yes! we offer a free pancake or toast breakfast with coffee, tea or juice. We also serve eggs, omelets and oatmeal for a small amount. Breakfast is served from 7:30am until 9:30am.

Can I reserve a bottom bunk?

Unfortunately, we cannot guarantee you a bottom bunk but we will try our best!. Beds are first-come first-served.

Is there a kitchen where we can cook?

Yes, a communal kitchen is located in the garden and we provide general kitchen amenities.

Do you provide airport transportation?

We provide a taxi service to and from Santo Domingo Airport – Las Americas (SDQ). It is $35USD to be picked up from the airport – please email us your flight airline, number, arrival time and departure city.

Are pets allowed?

Unfortunately we do not allow pets to stay in our hostel – we have two wonderful dogs though (Schumacher and Hamilton).

Do you allow children in your hostel?

No, unfortunately we do not allow persons under 18 years of age stay at our hostel.

Can we store our bags before check-in or after check-out?

Yes, we have a free luggage storage where you can leave your bags free of charge – short or long term!
