Bar Tips for the Colonial Zone

The nightlife here in the Colonial Zone is pretty great! You’ll find plenty of bars playing tropical music that are great for dancing (classics like Parada 77 and Onno’s), but there’s also lots of interesting spots for just hanging out with friends. Here’s a few suggestions (in random order) for an alternative night out in la Zona!

Cacibajagua

A really cool bohemian, dark bar with comfy sofas. Good spot for chilling with friends and listening to great indie / rock music!

Calle Mercedes #319

Mandala Pub (Previously Proud Marys)

Small bar (one of the oldest in the Colonial Zone!) with old school hippie vibe and rock music. Mary’s great sangria is a must try, for only 100 pesos!

Calle Sanchez #157

Beer Market
Has good choice of international beers and knowledgeable staff. A bit pricey, but if you’re looking for an alternative for Presidente, this is your place! Has two venues in the Colonial Zone.

Seb’s Beer Market: Plaza España

Eli’s Beer Market: Calle Isabel la Catolica Esq. Padre Billini

La Resistencia

The after party placein the Colonial Zone! The not so secret “secret bar”. Unofficially open till late (around 5-6), usually gets busy only after the rest of the bars close, after 2 am. Has no sign outside and you have to ring a door bell to get in!

Calle Jose Gabriel Garcia #157

La Casa del Mojito

Cool and funky little place, has live music and great mojitos (and, btw, during the day also great lunch, their plato el día is only 100 pesos)!

Calle 19 de Marzo #305

La Espiral

Alternative venue with djs playing electronic music, reggae etc. Has special events and live music on weekends, check their Facebook to see what’s up!

Calle Mercedes #313

La Alpargatería

A super hipster bar/cafe/restaurant with a cool, atmospheric court yard. A bit pricey, but a nice place to sip a cocktail. Also has a shop for beautiful, hand made shoes.
